Seeing that I have no current access to the studio (see previous post), I have come back to the "oh! why don't I try to get my art business started?!" Yes, I have been watching Youtube videos on the subject and I'm getting the terminology down to a tee. So proud!
I do now know more than I did back in August - yes, I 'leafed' back through my posts to see what I had done and said and when - and so I am in the current delusion that I might actually do something. Having said that, I should also probably point out that I am not totally lame since I did actually go to the mairie and reserve a room in the maison communale for an exhibition to happen on the weekend of March 14-15 2020. I might already have mentioned it, but a) it's ok to mention such things twice, b) I really do not feel like going back to the 'leafing' and c) this may be the only blog someone reads and so the only way they would find out about it. I have yet to send pictures and applications for the places that can be booked, if accepted in Cluny and Paray-le-Monial, but it is definitely in the air. I am aware that such places, like in Antwerp, might get booked now for 2021 so I think that is why I seem to be in no particular hurry. I know, I know, that is a failed logic.
For the moment, i.e. for the next week or so, I am going to play the 'online art business' game and see if anything changes. My plan is simple: post on Instagram (no problem there, since I do that already), post on Twitter (I never think to), update my Facebook page (yes, I actually have one), get an Etsy 'shop' or account and if I'm feeling particularly daring, open a Paypal account. I know diddly about the last two so if I find it gets too entangling and involved, I will probably skip them. Let us remember that I would much rather paint and draw and work on that partially started sculpture that is rusting in the drizzle, rain, downpour outside the kitchen window. Can cement 'take' in the rain? perhaps I should read the instructions on the bag. Are there instructions on a bag of cement? it's not a cake mix.... The major hiccough with the sculpture is that once I start covering it in plaster-fabric, I will have to cover it in plastic so the rain does not wash it away before it sets and before I can waterproof it. Once covered in a plastic bag, it will possibly get blown about by the wind. Yes, best wait until things calm down and dry up a bit out there.... spring?
Since I am out of my studio for the next week or so, I am putting that time-frame as the limiter. I can spend the time that I would normally use for painting, on this business stuff, and then write or draw or work on those little canvasses in the evening - if I am not taking up too much time meandering around like now on the blog. I can come up with terrific plans. Actually following them as planned is where the problem lies. There are so many distractions.

Je ne sais pas pourquoi, mais je démarre toujours en anglais alors que je vis en France. Enfin, ce n'est pas grave.
J'ai décidé que j'allais recommencer à tenter ma chance dans le monde des affaires de l'art. C'est à dire que je vais essayer de me lancer dans la promotion de mon travail sur l'internet. J'avais fait une tentative jusqu'au mois d'août mais avec si peu de résultats que, quelque peu soulagée comme ça je pouvais retourner tranquillement à mes pinceaux, j'avais mis cette idée de côté pour le moment.
Là, maintenant que mon atelier est sens dessus-dessous et que je ne peux pas y travailler, je vais saisir cette opportunité. J'espère pouvoir y retourner dans environ une semaine alors, en attendant, j'en profite pour me lancer. On ne sait jamais, ça pourrait marcher.
Aussi, j'ai plus de connaissances en la matière - j'ai regardé bon nombre the vlogs sur Youtube, source de toutes informations - et j'ai établi un plan plus élaboré que la fois précédente : Instagram (que je fais déjà mais que je vais 'amplifier'), Twitter (que j'oublie toujours), ma page Facebook (eh ! oui, j'en ai une) et puis, tout nouveau, je vais ouvrir un 'magasin' ou compte sur Etsy et, si je l'ose, un compte sur Paypal. Les deux derniers seulement si ce n'est pas trop prenant ou compliqué. Il faut se rappeler que je préfère de loin peindre, dessiner et travailler sur le démarrage de sculpture qui rouille dans la pluie, la bruine et les tempêtes, devant la fenêtre de la cuisine. Je ne sais pas si le ciment prendrait quand il fait si mouillé. Et puis bientôt, ne fera-t-il pas trop froid ? Il faudrait que je lise ce qu'il est écrit sur le paquet de ciment.
J'ai quand même accompli un petit quelque chose depuis le mois d'août sur le plan promotion : j'ai réservé une salle de la maison communale dans le village pour une exposition le weekend du 14-15 Mars 2020 - c'est en même temps que les élections municipales. Un de ces jours, peut-être même que j'arriverais à envoyer un mail aux mairies de Cluny et Paray-le-Monial pour voir si je pourrais utiliser une de leurs salles d'exposition.... on ne sait jamais. Un peu d'organisation, une petite sélection de tableaux, quelques photos, et tout et tout et tout.
Puisque je suis privée d'atelier pour au moins une semaine, je vais mettre ce temps au service de mon projet de promotion. Le temps que je passe normalement à peindre, je vais utiliser pour le projet et le reste du temps je vais dessiner, peindre les petites toiles ou écrire. Superbe plan d'attaque. Il me suffit de le mettre en œuvre. Soyons optimistes.
