I will be having an exhibition in our village in March 2020 and I thought it might be an opportunity, as preparation, to use the village as a model. Of course, just simply painting the village from different perspectives does not really appeal to me, for some reason. The background is what a friend of mine called 'le plan cadastral du village' and she was absolutely right. Onto the 'plan cadastral' I placed one view of the village. There is a lot of water on the painting because we had a very, very wet winter either last year or the year before. When I put the houses on the canvas, I did not think about direction and it is possible the whole thing would look better if it had been the other way around, since now there is a lot of water at the top. Still, that is where most of the water came from, so I suppose that is quite acceptable. The painting is about 1m80 by 1m50 - well, something like that. It is big and it is on a stretcher frame that weighs a ton (figuratively) and that might be one of the reasons why I did not think to turn it over.
I have done another buildings painting on four canvasses that I dismantled today because I needed the easel.

This one is much smaller. I think each canvas is about 30cm x 30cm. It is now in four pieces and that might have been a mistake because I'm not sure it is finished. If it is finished, it is because I have moved onto something else and if it is not finished that means I will move back onto it. Who knows?!
I have not posted anything for an eternity. I have been busy painting and writing - still working on that book, which is in french at the moment. I sometimes wonder if I should not put at least some of these postings in french... Still, now that I have two members and both are english-languaged, I think it might be nicer to continue in english. So many dilemmas. Welcome to you new members.
Ca me change un peu.
